The Audi Q7 first arrived in North America for the 2007 Audi Model year. While Audi had been building all wheel drive vehicles since the late 1970s they waited to join the crossover vehicle market until they introduced the Q7 to America.
As a luxury crossover in 2007 the Audi Q7 faced off against BMW and their X5 crossover, Mercedes Benz and also Range Rover with the Luxury Sport as other high-end European crossover SUVs.
